About Me

Welcome to my world of wanderlust and cinematic chills. I am  Horrorhiker. A tutor and writer by profession, and explorer by passion. Winning the Student New Angle Prize for writing in 2022 was a pivotal moment for me, affirming my commitment to sharing my thoughts and experiences with a wider audience.

A Journey Through Time and Terrain

My love affair with the great outdoors began in 1988 when I first joined the Cub Scouts. Camping has been a constant in my life since then, leading me on numerous adventures across the UK. Whether it’s hiking through rugged landscapes, wild camping under the stars, or bicycle touring through quaint villages, I find peace and joy in nature’s embrace. My fascination with camping gear, particularly tents, is an extension of this passion. Each piece of equipment tells a story, and I take great pleasure in discovering and sharing those narratives.

The Allure of Fear

Equally compelling is my love for horror films, a genre that captivated me as a ten-year-old boy when I first watched “Halloween” and “Jaws.” This early exposure kindled a lifelong fascination with films that evoke fear and unease. There’s a peculiar comfort in horror, a theme I’ve explored extensively on my blog. I am particularly drawn to stories where characters are confined to a single location, with “Dawn of the Dead” (1978) holding a special place in my heart.

As a teenager, I amassed a collection of VHS horror tapes, becoming deeply engrossed in franchises like “Friday The 13th” and “Hellraiser.” These films aren’t just entertainment; they are a lens through which I examine the complexities of fear and comfort, a duality that intrigues me immensely.
